New CISCO phone system in the JKWC

In preparing for a safe and successful transition to the JKWC, all staff that previously used a handheld phone in the Sunshine Hospital and need to work in the JKWC have been allocated a new Cisco wireless phone.

Cisco wireless phones are designed to work everywhere across the Sunshine Hospital precinct, offering both call and text capability as well as the functionality of forwarding calls internally.

Key things to know:

  • The prefix for the new handheld numbers will be 9055 rather than other standard Western Health prefixes.
  • If you have received a new handheld Cisco phone, please ensure you charge it and carry it with you from today ensuring that you hand it over at the end of your shift if required.
  • Your current handheld phone number cannot carry through to JKWC. These numbers will be centrally diverted.  Further work will be done to promote the new numbers in coming weeks.
  •  The new handheld phones will be on a WiFi system.  For this reason, code responders are being allocated mobile phones. Please continue to activate codes via the switchboard.  In the event of a WiFi outage, please revert to desk phones.
  • Telephone paging is no longer supported by Western Health. LAN (via PC or WOW) or by switchboard paging is now the preferred method.
